The Arcadia Landcare group was formed on the 2nd May 1994. The three main areas of concern at the time were the Watertable, farm productivity and tree planting. A bi-monthly newsletter is published and delivered to approximately 150 households in the area. With articles on the environment, sustainable farming and progress reports on the current projects

Events or Activities Arcadia Landcare Group have been involved in over the last 15 years.

 Environmental/Tree planting including:

-       Fencing and protection of Bushland Reserve.

-      Wayside Stop beautification.

-      Town Reserve beautification.

-      Kialla West School.

-      Roadsides where roads have infrequent use.

-      Landholders.

-      Fencing and protection of remnant vegetation.

-      Fencing and protection of riparian zones.

Productivity including:

-      Weed control trial plots and field days

-      Fertiliser crop demonstrations.

Watertable monitoring:

-      47 bores

-      Monitoring network

-      Monitoring creek water quality.

1999 COGS Innovative Landcare Award winner.

Bushland Reserve and Landcare Group brochure.

Field days:

-      Biodiversity.

-      Bushland Reserve.

Noisy minor project.

Seed collection and preparation (prior to the GB Seedbank establishment)

Bushland Reserve as educational tool.

Freshwater ecology team visit (also included other Landcare groups)

Patterson’s Curse and blackberry control.

Planning with COGS on roadside native vegetation protection and revegetation.
