Glenaroua Land Management Group

Glenaroua Land Management Group Inc. (GLMG) is one of the original Landcare Groups in the region (formed: July 1988). It is based in the lower catchments of Mollisons, Kurkuruc and Sunday Creeks, to where they join as Sugarloaf Creek before entering the Goulburn River. The Group also encompasses the upper catchment of the tributaries of Majors Creek south of the Puckapunyal. The Group has several projects involving protection and restoration of the land, particularly the steep Pyalong Hills. The Group works with Manningham Rotary Club on a special project to revegetate the hills: seed collected locally is grown in the Rotary Club's green house and planted onto hill sites in a single planting day that attracts over 150 members of Rotary Clubs across Melbourne. GLMG currently holds State Government funds for subsidising the cost of herbicides used to control priority weeds in the Dabyminga catchment area. Priority weeds include: Gorse, Blackberry and Serrated Tussock. Meetings are held on the third Thursday of February, May, August (AGM) and November at the Glenaroua Fire Shed.
